Solar photovoltaic (PV) is the creation of electricity from light, while solar thermal is all about heating water. A PV system will silently send free electricity to your consumer unit to be used in the same building, or exported. A solar thermal collector will heat a fluid which is pumped through a coil in your cylinder, to give you hot tap water in the Summer.
Solar power is a renewable energy source which is contributing to a fundamental change in our relationship with energy, as we begin to move from the monopoly of old centralised power to an exciting new world of micro-generation.
