Completing dry January seems almost impossible when it overlaps with ‘Ginuary’. And, as avid gin fans here at New Forest Ice Cream, it seemed only right do something special with our Gin and Pink Grapefruit sorbet to celebrate. What better way to do so than with a unique and delicious cocktail? The Greyhound cocktail is primarily a mixture of grapefruit and gin which creates a lovely, botanical freshness of flavours. Grapefruit and rosemary is a match made in heaven which is why this tangy cocktail requires an obligatory sprig to garnish.
This drink is a refreshing, fruity delight that will transport you to a heavenly beach away from the gloom and doom of January!
A great choice for the gin loves that fancy sprucing up their usual G&T. It is a simple combination of freshly squeezed grapefruit juice, sugar and New Forest Ice Cream Gin and Pink Grapefruit sorbet; incredibly easy to make but delicious all the same! There is no need to make a homemade sorbet which takes time and patience because our sorbet has the perfect complementary flavours that enhance this cocktail beautifully. Firstly, to make the simple syrup, bring equal parts water and sugar to boil and cook until the sugar has dissolved. Allow this to cool and store in the fridge until ready to use. To construct the cocktail begin by adding the three scoops of sorbet in a tall serving glass.
Then add your favourite gin of choice, fresh grapefruit juice and simple syrup. Stir to combine and finally, garnish with rosemary, mint and grapefruit slices, to add a truly special finishing touch. Enjoy!
Ingredients for one cocktail:
3-4 scoops of Gin and Grapefruit sorbet
-50 ml gin
-100 ml grapefruit juice
-100 ml simple syrup
-rosemary sprigs, to garnish
-fresh mint and grapefruit slices, to garnish
