Our first garden centre was founded in Ottery St Mary in the early 1960s, when Malcolm and Marilyn White began growing vegetables and plants to sell in East Devon markets, whilst living on site in a tiny caravan.
We’ve come a long way since then. Our Ottery St Mary garden centre has grown to become one of the largest in the UK and we have added four more garden centres in, and. All our centres reflect our enduring enthusiasm for plants and gardening.
Unlike most garden centres, we grow the majority of the plants we sell, currently more than 80%. Our Ottery St Mary centre spreads over 100 acres and includes growing fields, poly tunnels and glasshouses. Here, and at our Lymington garden centre, we grow millions of plants each year. We are particularly proud of the shrubs, trees, herbaceous perennials, bedding plants, fuchsias and geraniums we grow on site - and the Otter Nurseries commitment to quality means that all our hardy plants are covered by a two-year plant guarantee.
